    Pakistan High Delegation Meet Minister of Communications and the Senior Officials

    A High Delegation of Pakistan led by Moeed Ysusf, National Security Advisor to Pakistan Government, met Mr. Najeebullah Haqani, Acting-Communications Minister, and other senior officials of the Ministry, ATRA and Afghan Post.

    At the outset of the meeting, Communications Minister cordially welcomed the delegation and expressed his pleasure to meet them after recent political changes in the country. Mr. Yusuf initially talked about Pakistan IT, Database and Communications experience, knowledge and indicated his desire to assist and share the above mentioned issues with Afghanistan in order to better consolidate the relations between these two neighbor countries. He pointed out about National ID Registration Database, a portal based in the Prime Minister’s Office to receive and address the complaints on different issues, and also a portal called E-Office connecting the government ministers and other high-ranking officials. Moreover, he asked if Afghanistan could be interested to transfer, utilize and install the systems and Pakistan Government is fully ready to cooperate Afghanistan Government in this regard.

    Mr. Najeebullah Haqani then said, “Both Pakistan and Afghanistan people share the same culture, doctrine and religion so that the relations need to be expanded as much as possible”. He also raised some suggestions in the meeting and sought out the assistance from the other side to cooperate Afghanistan. The suggestions included, connecting Afghanistan to their marine cable through dark fiber, cooperating Post Authority in terms of transit, lowering internet prices, monitoring and controlling cross border frequency interference and spill-over to avoid losses aggrieved by Afghan Government, connecting optical fiber with Afghanistan exchange point in Kamal Khan Dam where it has reached to zero point, creating opportunity for more infrastructure projects , collaborating in networks inspection and organizing training programs for Afghan officials on IT specific fields.

    In conclusion, both sides once again expressed their pleasure for this meeting and pledged mutual cooperation and relation. The Pakistan side asked whether a list of needs and nominees for different committees on various issues to be shared with their contact person, Mr. Sadeq, the Ambassador, in order to pursue the issues and take necessary actions.
