Announcement for Broadband Mobile Services Frequency Auction Results

The Ministry of Communications & IT and ATRA are proud to have successfully conducted the frequency assignment auction process for companies providing telecom services.
• The auction process held on March 17, 2024, coinciding (7th day of Ramadan (1445) and 28/12/ 1402), The results thereof are as follows:

For 1800 MHz band
Etisalat Company won 5 MHz in 1800 MHz band for 20.050.000 USD.
Roshan Company won 5 MHz in 1800 MHz band for 19,001,400 USD.

For 2100 MHz band
MTN won 10 MHz in 2100 MHz for 32000888 USD.

For 2600 MHz band
Etisalat won 10 MHz in 2600 MHz for 13600000 USD.
AWCC won 10 MHz in 2600 MHz for 13400226 USD.

Based on the above mentioned results, Etisalat Company received a 15 MHz frequency, MTN received 10 MHz, AWCC received 10 MHz, and Roshan received a 5 MHz frequency through auctioning. 40 MHz was purchased for 98,052,514 USD among the 50 MHz presented to the auction.

The process aims at creating a proper environment for telecom companies in the country in order to efficiently utilize the limited resources of Afghanistan and provide high quality and necessary services to the citizens.

The auction was conducted for three 1800, 2100, and 2600 MHz bands since the companies need the above mentioned frequencies for providing advanced broadband services.

It is to be mentioned that the process, in a highlight of the ATRA frequency allocation policy, was precisely and transparently organized by MCIT system making specialists in the presence of an assigned inter-ministerial committee, which was formed as per the direction of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, an authorized and competent body and chaired by Alhaj Mualavi Naeejbullah Haqani, Acting-Minister of Communications and IT.
