ATRA Holds a Joint Meeting with Telecom Companies on SIM Registration

The meeting organized on this occasion was attended by Muawlavi Najeebullah Haqani, Acting Minister of Communications and IT, Muawlavi Saed Baraat Shah Agha Nadeem, ATRA Chairman, Mufti Najmuddin Mullahkhel, Admin and Finance Vice-Chairman of ATRA, Board Members and representatives for telecom companies.

The Minister asked the companies to have serious attention on SIM registration across the country, in particular, for border areas. Opportunists and destructive people try to create problems for the country and people using unregistered SIMs. Due to existing problems, leadership of the ministry, fortunately, developed a comprehensive procedure jointly with ATRA to prevent unregistered SIMs abuse and sent it to the companies for application and practical implementation one year back.

It is worth mentioning that the ministry leadership and ATRA granted companies one month respite to minimize unregistered SIMs and to sell new SIMs as per SIM Registration Procedure. Violating people and companies will be introduced to the justice and judicial bodies and shall have no right of complaint otherwise.
