ATRA Committed Accelerating Digital CASA Project

Mr. Omar Mansoor Ansari, ATRA Acting-Chairman, stressed on accelerating Digital CASA Project as well as further coordination among Ministry of Communication, World Bank and ATRA.

The project to be launched for expanding internet connectivity and developing e-government is funded by World Bank valuing around 41 million USD. ATRA Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Board Members and High Council Members discussed and exchanged views regarding the authority liabilities for implementing this project today.

Mr. Ansari termed the project very important and revolutionary in regard to internet connectivity in Afghanistan and the region and said, “ATRA would take crucial steps together with Ministry of Communication and Science and World Bank as an important shareholder of the project to assure that the citizens would access best and most satisfactory telecom and internet services on time”.

“ATRA has done basic works of this project such as issuance of optical fiber expansion licenses, encouraging investors and controlling prices, and also the authority is ready to have an important role in implementing the project through a comprehensive coordination”, added Mr. Ansari.
